Take a deep breath and slow it down a bit. As belly dancers, we do not need to make our hips hit every single drum beat and musical accent in a song.
Ashtalea has designed this class to help improve your belly dance technique and give you tools, ideas and tricks (such as small kicks, hence the play on words…” kicking it down…”) for dancing to moderate to slow Middle Eastern tempo music.
This workshop is offered in two sessions (2 hours each). The first session will focus on utilizing moderate to slow movements in a choreography. The second session will offer participants more time to perfect the movements and to make the choreography their own!
She will also give a brief lecture on why you should or should not dance to music with lyrics. How and when it’s appropriate and when it’s not.
Bring plenty of water and a towel because you may find, taking it slow takes more effort.
